Been a bit quiet, innit

Well, I completely failed to follow up on my I'll-do-lots-of-stuff-this-year idea, but with good reason.
I'm now beavering away full time at a design job in York, and am also busy with portrait and other illustration commisions (like the two above).
If you fancy some drawings of your grisley visage or significant other/parents/kids/cat/inanimate object being turned into a fancy dan illustration for your wall, give me an email at ed@edclews.com.

Next Years Paint Splodgery

Way, way, way back when I first started doing this blog over two years ago, it was there to keep me doing a daily drawing to get the old scribbling skills up to snuff.
For 2010, I've decided I'm going to do the same with value painting - the popular method of knocking it up in black and white then colouring over it twixt the lines.
Oggle this animated gif which shows the steps.
Here's a quick youtube video from sleepy sounding Dave Rapoza which explains this fancy dan method.
The first one is above, it done took me an hour-ish to do. Ideally, I should be able to turn one out every day but more realistically, it will probably every two to three.

The Bumper Book of Marmite

The Bumper Book of Marmite, which I've drawn five illustrations for, is finally out just in time for Christmas. It would make a good idea for a Christmas or birthday present.
See all the illustrations for it here.
Online shop move

I've just shifted my online shop to Bigcartel after trying Etsy for a while, and not being that impressed with it.
Buy some top quality tat here that you can fob off as Christmas or flat warming presents.
Get yerself a portrait painted

I'm now taking orders for portraits, so if anyone wants a portrait done of someone for Christmas get in quick now. More details here.

New work, some bits and also some bobs
I have been proper busy over the last few months that I haven't had a chance to post anything.
Firstly, the big news is I've just finished some illustrations for The Great Big Bumper Book of Marmite by Absolute Press on the subject of Marmite Through History.

It should be out within the first few weeks of October, pending deadlines and whatnot.
Squidge Magazine is coming along nicely, so far I've had interviews with Carlton Hibbert, Cory Godbey, Adam Cadwell, David Lyttleton and Steve Tillotson of Banal Pig with a few goodies coming up in the next few months.
I've also changed my website details and email, my main site is now at www.edclews.com and email is ed@edclews.com although all the old pagettypol bits still work.
I've got a few other odds and sods work around - I did a concept pic for a friends film for a 48 hour competition called Open Season.
That's it for the moment, more news in the next week or so.
